Let me just start by saying that all work weeks should be Wednesday through Friday. Amazing. I am still in holiday mode and honestly don’t plan on getting back to the grind until well after New Year’s Day. Yesterday I worked a 16 hour day (miserable) but that just made getting off early today extra wonderful. I could not wait to kick off my second 4.5 day weekend in a row with a run.
This morning I woke up and the house was freezing. I threw on several layers of clothes for work and ended up wearing way more gray than socially acceptable. Ooops.
Yes, those are socks with my flats and I don’t care. My feet were cold. Also, these adorable Michael Kors flats are some sort of medieval torture device and they murder my feet. I was hoping the socks would maybe protect my poor heels a little bit. I was wrong. So very, very wrong.
The weather is super weird in Tallahassee. You can wake up to frost on your windshield then searching for shade from the blaring sun and heat by lunch time. At the office my frozen bones started to defrost and I started to worry that the clothes I packed for my run this morning while shivering might cause me to overheat during my afternoon run. Then I stepped outside and was greeted by grey skies and 40 degree temps.
Guess the cold weather is actually going to stick around for a while!
Not the most beautiful weather but it was perfect for the inaugural run with my new tights.
hm, this is not a fantastic angle for a pic.
At some point in the last few days, I lost my headphones. I would be sad, but they sucked and I have been wanting new ones for way too long so this is a good excuse. So it was a quiet run with just me and Garmin today. WARNING: the following pic contains a very pale, freckly arm.
I know, the watch is 4 times the size of my wrist and looks absolutely ridiculous. Fun Fact: I have the tiniest wrists in the whole wide world.
Anyway, I ran 3 miles in 29 min flat. The miles were slow for a few reasons:
- I was messing with Garmy the whole time trying to learn new tricks
- I am not a fast runner
After a few more runs I will do a full review but here’s a hint: I’m loving it.
But as much as I love Garmy, I missed my music. I am oddly dependant on it considering I just started running with music at all a few months ago. I hummed the chorus (because that is the only part I know) of the Lumineer’s I Belong to You for the entire run.
After my run I decided to pop into Target and pick up a new pair of headphones. I gave myself a pep talk before going in “You can do this. You can go to Target for one thing and one thing only. You will not buy a basket full of things you don’t need”. A few ornaments, Christmas candy, shirts, earbuds later….
The car ride home was spent lecturing myself about self control and buying things I don’t need. Then I told myself to shut up and I ripped open my new candy.
Do you get sucked into the Target black hole? Are there other stores that you can’t walk out of empty handed?
Do you run with music?
Have you hit up any after Christmas sales?
I love buying Christmas candy on sale. LOVE.

/ December 28, 2012That’s hilarious, I always end up reaching in the back seat for something that I buy at the store, usually food! And I try not to go into Target for that same reason, I love that store!

/ December 28, 2012I can’t remember the last time I ran with no music!! I totally wear flats with socks! I’m not exactly what you would call a fashion plate though…

/ December 29, 2012I never use music during races or when I’m with other people but on solo runs its torture without music!

/ December 28, 2012Garmins are ridiculously huge for women! Other than my failed attempt at shopping for jeans the other day, I’ve been avoiding post-holiday sales (trying to save some $$!) Target and bookstores are my blackholes of spending!

/ December 29, 2012It really is twice the size of my wrist! I have been avoiding the stores too bc I have no self control once I’m there lol

/ December 29, 2012I always do that when I go to target! I can’t go alone because then I will buy everything! So my sister comes with me and literally drags me out when we find what we need. So I know how you feel!

/ December 29, 2012I need a Target supervisor too! Unfortunately most of my friends are just as bad as I am

/ December 30, 2012Yay Target! My Target is right beside the spa where I get my eyebrows waxed. Of course, if I arrive at the spa before they open I MUST kill time at Target! A $7 wax job ends up costing me over $60;) Yesterday I bought a long sleeve running top, york peppermint patties, candles, gift bags and dried magos.

/ December 30, 2012That seems like fantastic Target stop! I absolutely love the Target workout gear. It’s cute, comfy and cheap

/ January 1, 2013Oh God, the Target black hole. Explains why I have like 20 sports bras from there. Like do I need a hot pink sports bra? Umm, yes.
