Happy New Year!
My New Year’s Eve turned into something completely different than what I had planned. Instead of making dinner at the house then heading downtown to watch Sister Hazel, we went out to dinner with some friends then had people over at our house. Apparently I was the only one that wanted to fight the crowds to see Sister Hazel and democracy rules. We played some games, drank some champagne and then I was in bed by 1am. Different than what I had planned but still a good time :)
It is inevitable that people talk about New Year’s resolutions today so I will chime in. Usually I am part of the 80% of people that forget all about their resolutions by Feb 1st. But I have heard a lot about making resolutions stick (make measurable goals, write them down, tell people about it, etc) so I put together a short list of goals that I have for 2013.
- 13.1 in ’13- I have been in a running rut the past few months and think it’s time to step it up. I want to find a training schedule, stick to it, and skip across the finish line. Now I just need to find an affordable race in a few months…
- Save money- I am pretty good about spending but have recently noticed that I waste so much money on things I don’t need (hello, Target trip). I am putting together a budget this week and sticking with it.
- Be adventurous- This doesn’t mean I want to wrestle alligators or bungee jump. This is about pushing my comfort level. Trying a new fitness class, making new friends, etc. I tend to stick with what I know and rarely branch out unless there is someone holding my hand. This year I want to dive in head first and see what happens.
- Floss- ok, this has been my resolution for the past 2 years. I am awful about remembering to floss more than 4 times a year (sorry, Dr. Rosen).
2012 had some ups and downs but overall, there were more ups so I consider that a success. Here’s to hoping that 2013 has even more ups and even less downs.
Do you have any resolutions/goals for 2013? What are they?

/ January 1, 2013I have a lot of goals that I posted about yesterday. One goal we have in common is saving money. I fall into buying a ton of crap I don’t need / forget about the next day. Very bad habit

/ January 2, 2013My goal is to save a dollar for every mile that I run this year. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I have a ton of bucks at the end of the year!!
And the hygienist in me has to say “Flossing is just as important as brushing!”.
