Sunday morning my most favorite thing in the entire world happened: I woke up, without an alarm clock, to the sound of drizzling rain with nothing on the schedule for the day. I laid there for a little while just listening to the rain then turned on the tv to see Boy Meets World. Seriously, could this day get any better? Yes. Matt then brought me an iced chai tea to enjoy in bed.
As I was sipping my tea and catching up with Corey and Topanga, in came Matt with some apple, craisin, cinnamon oatmeal drizzled with honey. I didn’t get out of bed until 10:30am, a full 13 hours after I crawled into bed Saturday night. I can’t remember the last time that happened! Eventually I decided to put on some real pants and hit up Costco for some samples groceries. You can imagine our disappointment when we got there and there were no samples! What?! It’s noon Costco! Where is my lunch?!
The dreary weather was showing no sign of stopping and my gym membership ends today so I decided to enjoy a treadmill run while I can. My legs were still feeling Saturday’s hike so I didn’t want to push anything.
Looky, looky, I actually did a cool down!
I did a very easy 3 miles then did some much needed strength training. My arms didn’t know what was happening. I really need to get back in the habit of doing strength training more than twice a month :/
When I got home, I was greeted with this:
Matt presented it to me as “A Mexican pizza, like from Taco Bell, but actually good”. Appropriate description. Beans and rice, cheese, tomato, red onion on top of a tortilla and topped with a drop of sour cream. Two meals made for me without asking?! A girl could get used to this.
Matt then showed me what was in the oven for dinner: brisket.
Oh yes, Sunday was a good day. Since I am a great imitation jew, I asked Matt if we could have latkes with the brisket. Never one to say no to fried potatoes, he said heck yes.
The rest of the day was spent on the couch watching our new favorite show, How the States Got Their Shapes, and smelling the brisket baking.
Rosemary-garlic brisket, celery, carrots, latke topped with sour cream and a glass of shiraz.
Matt was 3 for 3 on Sunday. This meal was amazing. Matt followed this recipe for the brisket if you are in the mood for some delicious goodness.
I told Matt to sit back and relax and I would take care of dessert. Obviously this meant dessert would be chocolate covered pomegranates and more wine. Served with a side of half marathon researching….
The front runner for my cherry popping half marathon is the Florida Beach Halfaton in St Pete, FL on St. Patty’s Day. It is a push but in Florida the options for long distance races are kind of limited. Due to the heat May-September, races are pretty much non existent. My plan is to do a six mile run on Friday, assess where I am in training, then make a decision about registering.
Rainy Sundays: Love or Hate?
LOVE.
Any recommendations/suggestions for prepping/selecting my first half mary?
Have you ever seen the show How the States Got Their Shapes?
It has the most boring name ever but its really interesting.

/ January 7, 2013A man that cooks! Keep him!!!! Your sunday sounded just glorious…other than Costco ripping you off by not providing samples. You should have ripped open a couple bags of whatever and threw a picnic together in aisle 47.

/ January 8, 2013OK first of all–tell me you’ve heard that they’re making a Boy Meets World spin-off called Girl Meets World. Best part? It stars the original Cory & Topanga! Dying. Can’t even wait for the magic to start.
Second, I love How the States got their Shapes! My husband always wants to watch shows that sound sooo boring (like this one!) and then end up being so interesting!
