Welcome to my blog about my never ending love of food, new obsession with running and daily adventures. You can expect lots of avocado, red velvet, references to 90's television and poorly taken iPhone photos. Thanks for stopping by!

The kinda sorta rest day

Things That Suck:

  1. Mondays
  2. Moving
  3. Moving on Monday

Our office is moving so this week will be spent packing, throwing things away, and banging my head on my desk. Next week will be spent unpacking, throwing more things away, and banging my head on my new desk. I will try to keep the whining on here to a bare minimum. But no promises.

My plan was for Monday to be a rest day. But Matt was home early enough to get in a daylight run and I was looking to burn off some packing tape frustration (seriously, how annoying is packing tape?) so there was no passing up this run. We decided to hit up FSU for an easy 5k. It was the first day of class so there were plenty of students to dodge. Also, there is lots of construction going on around the stadium and it smelled like cow manure. Not our best planned run.

I definitely wanted to pick up the pace for most of the run but forced myself to keep it slow since I was supposed to be chilling on the couch instead of running anyway. We finished in 30 minutes flat. Maybe my Tuesday rest day will go better?

On our Sunday Costco trip, we picked up a pork tenderloin and I wanted to make this recipe. However, going to Publix on the day that all of the college kids get back into town is #4 on the list of Things That Suck. So we improvised with what we had:

2013-01-07 18.53.16Dijon mustard, honey, rosemary, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, apple cider vinegar marinade, tossed with chopped apples and baked.

Last night the latkes were such a hit, that we decided a repeat was necessary. I was chopping up the salad while Matt was dishing out the meal and he said “I have to make your plate pretty since you’re going to take a picture”. He is catching on.

2013-01-07 19.32.51Eh, some meals just don’t photograph that well. But I promise, our improvised marinade was fantastic.

I have never watched the Biggest Loser but am a huge Jillian fan/live in fear of her, so I decided to check it out while Matt watched the BCS Championship game that I could not care less about. This show is way cheesy, way overdramatic and right up my alley. If I could workout with anyone, it would be Jillian. She is a beast. Maybe next week I will even watch the Biggest Loser while *not* in bed eating chocolate covered pomegranates. Maybe.
