New Years Resolutions: 1 month later

It seems like a million days ago that I was sweating out booze on the treadmill making plans for 2013. I am determined to actually accomplish the 4 very vague, fairly simple goals I set for myself and decided that checking in will be good motivation. So here you go:

13.1 in 13: In the beginning of the month, Matt and I went on a 13 mile hike but since the goal was to run 13.1, that does not count towards this goal. But I have found a race that appears to meet most of my criteria (no mountains, not too soon, semi-local, etc). I know you are all on the edge of your seat wanting to know which race it is and I promise to share soon.

I just need to run this...times 4ish

I just need to run this…x4ish more miles

Save Money: HA. This is going to be that goal that mocks me all year long. I have not set a budget, I have not looked to see where I can cut back, but I also have not left Target with $60 worth of candy and tank tops so I guess I can claim a little progress?…maybe? Nope. This one needs work.

Finding $40 is kind of like saving money, right?

Be more adventurous: I have taken a few new fitness classes so I have made some progress on this one. Now I just need to step it up a notch.

Ready for adventure!...and froyo

Floss: I can happily say that I have flossed at least twice a week since New Years. That is at least 5 times more than I flossed all of 2012. Goal domination in progress.

Overall, I am happy with my progress but because I am a super awesome overachiever/have tons of flaws to fix, I have also added a few new goals:

Do laundry more than once a week. I am soooooo guilty of waiting until Matt does not have one clean thing to wear to work and/or I am drying off after a shower with a dishtowel before I do laundry. Seriously, this needs to stop. Along with this goal is actually taking clothes to the drycleaner. We have at least 6 items that have been hanging around in a “take to the drycleaner” bag for months but have not moved from next to the washing machine. And another addendum to this goal: stop buying clothes that are dryclean only. Hm, this has morphed in to a whole lifestyle change.

Plan meals for the week. Matt and I already semi do this. Every Sunday we wander Costco/Publix and grab meals for the next 2-3 days. Then Thursday night hits and no one knows what to make for dinner meaning we a) eat Lucky Charms for dinner or b) eat out (which does not help Resolution Numero 2). Meal plan, get ready to be made.

Have you stuck with your New Years Resolutions?

How often do you do laundry?

Are you a Mitch Hedberg fan?

I am a huge Mitch fan. He was absolutely hilarious and died before his time. Check this out if you want some quick laughs.

  1. Hahah girl I felt like you were speaking from my mind when you said that you haven’t left Target with $60 dollars of candy and tank tops.. add neon sports bras and you’ve got me haha

  2. I laughed at your laundry resolution because mine is to do LESS laundry. I wash my sheets and running clothes once a week, but my regular laundry can stand to be piled up a bit. And I have succeeded. I did laundry yesterday when I got low on socks!

  4. I’ve done okay sticking with resolutions. I have hypoglycemia so I’m not supposed to eat excess sugar as it is, so I resolved to cut it out once and for all. Fail. Can’t believe I even thought that would work! I’ve been better than I was the past couple months though, so I suppose that’s a step in the right direction. I do laundry once a week, I feel that’s plenty. It forces me to wear new clothes rather than the 3 pieces I would wear every day if I could.

  5. Good goals. I’m so bad about laundry. I go weeks without doing it and wonder why it’s so stressful when I finally get around to it!

  6. Love your goals. I’ve been trying to drink more water and flossing more, as well! I’ve been sticking to both!

  7. Target is a toughie, I can’t get out of there for under 50 bucks. We should start a support group.

  8. Good for you! I definitely hear you on the money thing. I save a bit, but I can do better. I need to stop eating out so much/walking into Target to “browse” and leaving with random clothes.

  9. My new year’s resolutions were to try new things and to not take myself so seriously and just live in the moment. My blog has fit under the “try new things,” but I haven’t done many other new things. I have been doing well in not taking myself so seriously and just living in the moment: 2013 has been so much fun already! I’m trying to remain positive about everything, and so far it’s working.

I do laundry about once a week or every week and a half and only because either A) underwear supply is low or B) I have no clean workout shorts. I’m disgusting..

  10. Oh god those are some good goals. I need to do laundry more often. Actually, thanks for reminding me since my sneakers are currently dripping with water.

  11. I TRY to do laundry about once a week, but sometimes I stretch it a little longer. I really hate folding and hanging clothes, but hate it more if they’re just sitting in a pile, so this is usually a chore I complain about a lot.

Every 6 months, my dentist yells at me because I don’t floss enough (read: at all). I might steal your resolution and try to floss more too. No promises though.

  12. haha wait, you mean leaving target 60 dollars later with only candy and tank tops is wrong? uh oh I’m wrong every time I go to target. crap. I think I need to take some of your resolutions, I think I might have 12 loads of laundry to do…haven’t done a load since the beginning of the month…oops!

  13. Love Mitch Hedberg! He’s the greatest. I love that your goal is to do laundry more than once a week, I’m doing good if I can manage to do it once every two weeks! I swear the only reason I wash my clothes is because I don’t have enough running socks. Lol!

  14. Aw I love Mitch Hedberg too… and I totally sympathize on the Target spending. That place is a freaking money pit for me.
