All day yesterday the skies were grey, the clouds were racing and the wind was blowing. We were told to prepare for some nasty storms all evening but when we got home from work there was only a slight drizzle and since Matt and I are tough/stupid, we decided to go for a run and risk death by tornado and/or monsoon. Our plan was to do some track work but the high school had some kind of practice going on so we decided to do our own thing.
We ran a little over .5 mile (fast) to the FSU stadium, ran up and down the stadium stairs a few times, jogged around the stadium, repeated, then ran fast back to the car. My Garmin died about halfway through this workout but we are pretty familiar with the distances so we did about 3 miles. Not quite the speed work we had planned but we got in some sprints and the stadiums really killed us. Stadiums are my version of hell on earth.
We managed to get home before the rain set in but there were some serious headwinds. I am kind of glad Garmy died because I don’t think I would want to see my “sprint” times.
Dinner was quickly thrown together with left over lamb, sausage and some roasted broccoli, sweet potatoes, and onions. Matt and I are both obsessed with roasted broccoli at the moment and will probably not eat it any other way until summer time when we refuse to cook inside.
I mentioned yesterday that one of my new goals is to start planning my meals better. One of the main reasons I want to do this is because I like bringing leftovers for lunch. But if dinners are scrounged up bits and pieces from previous meals, there usually isn’t much leftover. This means I have to buy lunch which is either pricey or unhealthy or, like today, a little bit of both.
Obviously supermarket sushi is limited in options but this spicy tuna roll was really filling and tasty. Question: does wasabi come in varying degrees of spiciness? Normally I am a baby with it but today I was piling it on and feeling little heat. Maybe my wimpy tastebuds have finally toughened up? I don’t know.
Anyway, I was browsing around looking for something sweet to go with my sushi and found an M&M flavor I have never heard of before:
These are no mint M&Ms. They remind me of an imitation version of my beloved dark chocolate covered pomegranates/acai berries. Not my favorite M&M flavor but these will not go to waste.
What is your favorite M&M?
Dark chocolate mint!
Do you ever run stadiums? Do you hate it as much as I do?
I used to torture myself with stadiums weekly for a few months. It has been over a year since I have put myself through that but its such a great workout.

/ January 31, 2013I really like the pretzel m&m’s or peanut butter m& m’s. I cannot wait for all of the Valentine’s Day candy to go on sale… gonna have a field day.
I ran stadiums in high school but haven’t since then… I give you two props for doing it! That’s tough work! Whenever I do my training runs (long), I do a loop where I start with a hill, do my run and come back, which means I end with that same GIANT hill and basically kill myself. I thought that was bad enough…
