Bling run

Yesterday evening I broke my not running streak. I had only taken 4 days off but it felt like I had taken 4 years off. Every step felt awful. Apparently eating like crap and being lazy is not good for training. Who knew? I wanted to go 3 miles and I did not have the extra .03 in me to make that possible:

photo 1-86Maybe this run was extra hard because I was being weighed down by my new bling? I think it had more to do with being weighed down by M&Ms but let’s just go with the ring theory. Even if the run was ugly the weather was pretty. I can already tell my overcast, cool breeze runs are coming to an end and it I am trying to enjoy them as much as possible.

photo 2-89Matt had a work dinner meeting so I was left to fend for myself for dinner. Obvi this meant I was going to resort to my lazy girl dinner: eggs.

Easy peasy. I had no plans to eat any dessert last night but when I was scrounging through the cabinets looking for something to pack for my lunch, I came across a wonderful surprise: a half full bag of dark chocolate mint M&Ms!

I thought these holiday favorites were long gone but apparently I was wrong. That means there are now currently 3 kinds of M&Ms in our house: dark chocolate raspberry, dark chocolate mint and milk chocolate coconut. I should probably eat these up before I load up on next weeks after Valentines Day candy sales. Guess my clean eating will have to wait. Shucks.

There seems to be some nasty weather headed to the northeast so hope you are all bundled up and ready for some treadmill runs!

What do you do to get through tough runs?

I tell myself bad runs now make good runs later. Also, I curse myself for eating some much crap.

Favorite kind of pepper?

orange and red.

  1. I eat crap and try to work out and feel terrible and then do the same thing. I ask myself why I do that when I know it’s a bad decision. Yet I still continue to do it over and over, lol. Red peppers are definitely my favorite. Still obsessed with your ring…. :)

  2. Working out in the afternoon usually keeps me from eating crap before practice (I say usually because at least once a week this strategy fails me) but I like your ring excuse better ;) Besides, it’s there for you to stare at. What if you like ran into a pole or something while running because you were distracted? That would be dangerous! I would totally do that.

  3. I usually bribe myself with some sort of treat. Get through this run, do all the miles and you can have BROWNIES!

  4. Food is 100% my motivation. I know that if I don’t finish a run/don’t go as far as planned, I’ll have to have a smaller dessert or no dessert at all. :( That sure kicks my butt into gear. I also tell myself that it’s mostly mental and that I am not going to die and to just keep going.

I love green and red bell peppers, but I also like pepperocinis and jalapeno peppers (do those two choices count?)

Are those the Arnold Pita Pockets? If so, I LOVE THOSE! Seriously, I am obsessed with them lately.

Getting through tough runs for me is now (in 2013) about being mindful and meditative… it’s really hard.
