Welcome to my blog about my never ending love of food, new obsession with running and daily adventures. You can expect lots of avocado, red velvet, references to 90's television and poorly taken iPhone photos. Thanks for stopping by!

A Valentine’s Day Recap

Yesterday I thought that I would be nice and bring my coworkers some of the leftover cookies from Wednesday night. Apparently I wasn’t the only one who wanted to share some sweets because there were also Krispy Kremes and a strawberry buckle floating around. I had never heard of a strawberry buckle but I was told its a cake like thing made in a skillet. Idk but whatever it was, it was delicious. My cookies were gobbled up pretty quickly which is always a good sign. The rest of the day the whole office was in an intense sugar coma. Lunch was a hodgepodge of randomness since we are leaving town today and have zero groceries.

A few turkey slices, Laughing Cow wedge, bread and butter pickle slices with some cucumber slices.

Bread and butter pickles are the best pickles in the whole world. Don’t try to argue that. You will lose.

After lots of internet searching for the perfect Valentines dessert, I settled on Dark Chocolate Merlot Cookies. Yup. You read that right.

They look a little crispy but don't be fooled, they are gooey and wonderful.

These cookies were RICH and wonderful. The only change I made was dried pomegranates instead of cherries and I used 8 ounces of dark chocolate chunks instead of 10 ounces only because the bars came in 4 ounces. If you like dark chocolate and want to be happy, make these.

I tell Matt not to buy me Valentine’s Day gifts every year but he is convinced that I am playing some kind of girl trick on him and testing him so he insists on bringing me goodies. I am def not trying to trick him…but absolutely love my goodies.

When he gave me the goods he said “I know you like Greece, so here’s some spanikopita“. That’s my kinda logic. Also, note the head to toe red velour jumpsuit. I decided to dress like J. Lo from 1999 to really set the Valentine’s Day mood.

After presenting me my gifts Matt poured me a glass of wine and told me to relax while he cooked dinner:

Bacon brussel sprouts, salmon with a brown sugar glaze and, of course, spanikopita

A very happy Valentine’s Day indeed :)

What did you do for Valentine’s Day?

How do you like your chocolate?

The darker the better.

  5. I know you said not to argue about pickles, but DILL pickles are my absolute favorite food. Like, honestly, if I was trapped on a deserted island, I would bring pickles.. although the salt would probably dehydrate me and I would die. At least I would die happy!

For valentine’s day I went out with some girlfriends! We had heart shaped pizza and beer, then I dressed in a tutu and handed out valentines to random people at the bar. I think I made quite a few people’s nights, even though it my valentines were One Direction Valentines (I love 1D).

I LOVE dark chocolate..especially when it’s cold. Yummy!

It wasn’t until I got older that I had a taste for bread and butter pickles. Yes, they are yummy. I do like Clausen pickles, though… a lot!

Those Brookside pomegranate things are SO good! I always get the blueberry/acai kind – addicting. I kind of like the red jumpsuit, by the way ;)
