Five Steps to a Fantastic Run

Step 1: Take a week off from running so that you’re ready to go, go, gadget legs

Step 2: Make a kickass playlist with some new beats mixed with oldie but goodie tunes

I think it is impossible for me to run without listening to Sweet Nothing at least twice.

Step 3: Leave the Garmin at home

Running naked

Bare arm

I love Garmy but running naked every now and then is magical.

Step 4: Run in your favorite spot when the temperature is juuuusssttt right

Seriously, how could you have a bad run here?

Step 5: Wear the most mismatched outfit possible

Hot pink Nikes, Garnet & Gold FSU shorts, green & orange Turkey Trot tee.

I wish I could tell you that my legs will eventually tan once summer rolls around but that would be a lie #Irishproblems

Ok, so Step 5 won’t do anything except make people wonder if you are legally blind. And most runners will probably disagree about ever doing Step 1. But I do what I want and this run was fantastic. I am guilty of getting caught up in my numbers and bashing myself for crumby times so it was refreshing to run without the arm candy judging me. Also the weather was perfect at 56 degrees and sunny. Happy legs, happy Karen.

What do you do to get back in the running habit after a break?

What were your favorite cartoons as a kid?

I was a HUGE fan of Jem, Inspector Gadget and Doug.

  1. My new favourite thing is running without looking at my Garmin and getting happily surprised at the end of my runs! I’m too much of a geek to run without it completely but I can just about resist the urge to sneak a peek on runs now!

  2. Love number 5 :) and the scenery on your run looks very peaceful. Gotta love running past bodies of water, running on the beach next to the ocean is my favorite.

    • I dressed as her for halloween a few years ago and everyone thought I was Britney Spears. I was super disappointed that no one got it!

  11. My first few runs this week after I took a week off from the half were done without music and without my running app. Today, I returned to my “normal” running routine and it was AMAZING to be back into my routine and to be back in my groove.

My favorite cartoons were Doug and Hey Arnold!

  13. I do love running without my Garmin sometimes so there is absolutely no pressure and I can just tell myself that I’m going super fast without a watch to disagree with me;) Your ring is gorgeous!!
